Cambodia Gambling Halls
Saturday, 9. January 2021
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel building that contains numerous amenities on top of the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
