There are many gambling halls in the commonwealth, the biggest number being on moored barges. The biggest of the Iowa casinos is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, a Native American gambling den in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of casino area, 1,500 slots, 30 table games, such as chemin de fer, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several varieties of poker; also three dining rooms, bimonthly shows, and betting lessons. One more substantial Indian gambling den is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 square feet, 668 slot machines, and fourteen table games. Also, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs is available 24 hours, with 38,500 square feet, 1,589 slots, 36 table games, and four eatery’s. There are many other dominant Iowa gambling dens, which includes Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 one armed bandits, and 39 table games.
A smaller Iowa gambling den is the Diamond Jo, a river based casino in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend water based, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 square feet, 535 slot machines, and 14 table games. Another Iowa riverboat casino, The Isle of Capri, is available all day and night, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 slot machines, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 sq.ft. water based gambling hall in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live entertainment, and Thursday twenty-one tournaments.
Iowa casinos present an excellent amount of tax revenue to the state of Iowa, which has permitted the bankrolling of many state wide activities. Tourism has gotten bigger at a rapid percentage accompanied with the request for services and an increase in employment. Iowa casinos have been instrumental to the expansion of the market, and the excitement for gambling in Iowa is absolute.
